Cold Brew Coffee
Hi everyone, Rafi here again. So today I thought I would go a little off topic and talk to you about a potential business prospect or at the very least something that is growing in popularity and thus something to look out for. Along with a passion for entertainment I am also a bit of an entrepreneur. To be honest I think these two passions go hand in hand as I am always on the look out for new and interesting concepts which can be both entertaining and potential money spinners!
So one of the things I love is a good cup of coffee and I am always interested to hear about new and intuitive ways to consume this popular beverage. After all, coffee is one of the highest consumed commodities on the planet, we are talking BIG money here. So I guess that is one of the reasons why I find it so interesting, I know that there is always going to be a potential business opportunity where coffee is concerned! So what specifically am I talking about here? What new and inventive coffee concoction have I discovered? COLD BREW! It’s definitely the new and trendy way to consume coffee and independent cold brew producers are popping up as I type.
So what exactly is cold brew? Well, essentially, it is coffee brewed with cold water…sounds simple eh? Well it really is. What’s important though is how long you brew it for and the product you end up with. You see, when we use boiling water in our coffee we are extracting a lot of different oils and flavours which in some ways is a great thing but can result in coffee that is too strong and very bitter. Cold brew on the other hand defeats this problem because the cold water doesn’t exacts all of the oils and flavour from the grounds resulting in coffee that is light, fresh, less acidic and not as caffeinated. It really is a doddle to create and leaves you with a refreshing and easy drinking summer beverage that is now the ‘cool’ way to drink coffee (excuse the pun).
